  • I think running it on grease would be a challenge. LPG is probably what you mean. Don't convert a Jeep - the engine overheats every time. Bye bye head gasket
  • These modern fully electronic controlled models are a desperate attempt to weed out the shade-tree mechanic, you and I. The slightest variation will throw everything out of whack. Getting all the things needed and a computer set up for any alternate fuel will wind up costing more than twenty years of gas that you will spend in it. I would advise an older model vehicle, 1988 or older, before you experiment with this.
  • A diesel engine can run frying oil straight out of the vat at any restaurant with no modifications. You just have to filter it to get out the larger contaminants. If you live in cold-winter areas use the oil during the summer and run the Diesel during the winter. You can process the fry oil so you can run it all year but it requires some work and money in equipment. I was watching a series on youtube in which a guy inaustralia was converting a gasiline car into an electric. I never did see the end of it but take a look there for a electric conversion. Cool stuff.
  • All electric vehicles are not popular. their driving range is very limited, along with its speed. to replace the batteries, costs $3 to 5,000 dollars. if you could invent an invisible extension cord for these vehicles, you would be a billionaire overnight. this is why the auto showrooms are full of these electric cars. they are just not practical. As for a vehicle running on grease, well, you have got me there. never heard of it, but i guess its possible. there is enough grease left over in the world to run its engine. Man will always be in love with the combustion engine in an automobile. its self sufficent and is a part of life, as we know it. soon, the oil supplies will be depleted. not in my lifetime, but soon. i only hope someone comes up with a replacement for the gasoline engine. what about steam? it worked before at a crude level. if refined, maybe steam will be mans future transportation.
  • The conversion of a diesel-engine vehicle to run on waste oil is FAR easier (and less expensive) than converting a car to run on electric power. Here's a good place to start: http://www.greasecar.com/ If you're dead set on converting to electricity, this firm has been in the business for many years: http://www.electroauto.com/ Good luck.
