  • Eating a good breakfast, minimum lunch and a healthy dinner is my advice - if you skip breakfast your body starts to convert food into fat as it thinks that you are fasting. Couple this with a good walk (or other physical activity, aerobics for instance)once a day for an hour or more.
  • My girlfriend runs about 20 minutes every day in addition to either playing on the varsity tennis team on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or working out at the gym for a little (not much) strength training on her arms and legs. She does anywhere from 200-300 crunches for a toned stomach too. She loves salads and fruits, but she eats sweets too just not often. It's all about being active and not by any means starving yourself: Breakfast is DEFINITELY the most important meal. As it was told to me: you're breaking your fast (breakfast.)
  • If you really want to lose weight fast, try the South Beach diet. I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks. I've kept if off for nearly 6 months now too.
  • You must look pretty good in a bikini, or else your boyfriend would not have asked you to wear one. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Some gals think they are overweight in their mind, but look like a MILLION dollars, to their boyfriend. Don't worry about it, just accept it then enjoy yourself..Good Luck..
  • The best way to lose weight is slowly. to eat balanced 5-6 times a day and to drink only water. small servings of carbs, slightly bigger portions of protein and as much fruits and veggies as you can. don't cut any one thing out (like the latest craze with carbs) because after you lose the weight and start eating carbs again you will begin to gain weight again. try to stay away from bleached flour and eat only whole wheat, it digests much better. juices are high in sugar. stay away from fake sugars, they make you crave the real thing. and treat yourself twice a week to something off your diet.
  • To thine Own Self be True! Since Dec. 06' to date I have lost 125 Lbs.! I did it by not eating throughout the week & then only MODERATELY on the Weekend. But I am Diabetic and that is just what works for me. That's less than 10 Lbs. a month for Ur "Basic Starvation Diet". U don't say how much U THINK U need to lose, but as U can see, the "max" would be on a "Starvation Diet" & I could Not recommend that!!! Be sensible & if U need to lose weight, DON'T tie it to Ur Holiday Schedule! And YES LOVE IS BLIND so Accept his "Unconditional Love" & thank God for it & him!!! Lose weight for Urself, no one else. • He's not blind. He likes what he sees. Have the confidence to let him be proud of you.
  • Be careful of "crash diets" they can be dangerous. I've found that eating about 6 times a day in very small portions and being a vegetarian keep me at a stable and healthy weight. Keep the carbs low (but do not eliminate them, the body does need them). Best thing, talk to your doctor as he/she will know you and your health needs better than anyone here.
  • Try some moderate excersize, and be sure to eat healthy. Also, work on loving you body as it is.
  • oh good on him!!! really proves love IS blind ...lol..lol :):)
  • Hey! My sister's a dietitian, so maybe I can give you a few pointers. 1.) Eat a good breakfast. (Eating breakfast allows your body a safeguard to keep you from feeling so hungry right about lunch-time.) Oatmeal is a good breakfast food, because it contains a lot of fiber, and only one serving really fills you up. 2.) If you're going to eat a big meal, eat it during lunch, and eat it slow. At the very least, this allows your body time to digest and work with some of the extra carbs, whereas if you eat a lot at night, your body shuts down before it can use those calories. Eating slow also helps you from eating too much. 3.) Have snacks in-between meals. And I don't mean a cookie or an ice-cream sandwhich. (I love those things, unfortunately...) But I mean have like a banana here and there. Maybe an apple, or some carrots and celery. :) This will give your body extra nutrients because we need about 5 fruits/vegetables per day. And this will also curve your appetite a bit for when you actually eat a meal. 4.) It's okay to eat meat. Personally, I love meat and I couldn't live without it. :) But here's something you should know: One serving of meat is roughly the size of your palm. (That's about 150 calories if you're eating red meat.) However, it might benefit you to stick with things like turkey, chicken or fish. You know, eat leaner meats. 5.) Don't eat a lot of salt. (Insert sigh here.) I know the feeling, I love salt too. But in all reality, too much salt makes your body soak in excess water-weight. This can make you gain a few unneeded pounds. It can also give you higher blood pressure later in life, but I'm sure you've heard of that one before. :) 6.) Don't use splenda. It's one molecule away from DDT, an illegal and outlawed pesticide in the United States. And it also releases trace amounts of methane when you digest it. Dead serious. Now, this specific information won't exactly help you lose weight, but I thought you just might like to know about that. If you really want a sugar replacement, try something natural; like "Stevia," not something chemically altered. 7.)Go on www.mypyramid.gov. This website is amazing. It can give you a rough sketch for a diet, analyze the calories you burnt during exercise, and it can even add up all the calories you've eaten in one day. Seriously, I really suggest going here. Also, check out what your Body Mass Index is. 8.) Exercise! I'm sure you've heard this one too, but it's definitely important. While eating right is an amazing start, it also helps to exercise and get yourself toned up for that bikini! :) Try walking, or other relatively low-impact workouts for awhile until you build up enough endurance and such to do other things. Examples of other good exercises would be aerobics or Pilates. And try to set aside a time each night to exercise, maybe before dinner or something. That way, you can get your metabolism running for when you eat. 9.)Don't starve yourself, or go on freakishly strange diets. Veganism, although it has good short-term affects, can actually be dangerous if you don't know everything you're getting into. I would definitely consult a doctor before you cut out any major food groups. And starving yourself? That's probably worse than eating too much. 10.) Don't do diet pills. I know they sound good, I know they look tempting, but they're probably not worth your money. For example, you know that Alli? Did you also know that it can make you wet your pants constantly? (No offense to anyone taking this pill or anything. I just think it would be best to stick with things that don't have weird side-effects.) 11.) Eat as much organic foods as you can. Try to stay away from foods with "Monosodium glutimate," "Autolyzed Yeast Extract," or "Asparatame." All three of these can cause weight and health problems, and a steady diet of these can seriously hurt someone. I'd even try to avoid "high fructose corn syrup," but I doubt that's possible anymore. :) 12.) Finally, if you're really that concerned, go talk to a real doctor or dietitian. They could probably help you way more than I could. :) Oh, and whatever you do: Don't give up, and never forget that "skinny" isn't healthy! You want to be at ~your~ target weight, not Twiggy's. I'm sure your boyfriend will love you anyways, no matter what. :) Good luck!
  • Ok, I don't want to be all controversial, I absolutely agree with all the eating moderately, consistently, healthily, etc. starvation is not something your body handles well at all. but I did want to mention that my mother tried a sort of moderate diet pill (I forget the actual brand, something like Alli) and had good results. The main thing is that it curbs your appetite and stimulates your metabolism, supposedly. She was prescribed it by her doctor because apparently excess weight was causing stress to her arthritic knees. So maybe talking to your physician about something like that would help you along? Think about it, but be safe!
