  • Teach your children that their bodies are there's and there's alone. Do not allow other adults to kiss/hug them if they DON'T WANT to be kiss/huged. When your children get older allow for as much privacy as is appropriate according to their behavior. Build open communication with them. Talk about difficult subjects in an age appropriate way from the beginning. Don't wait to have the "big talk" when they hit puberty. A friend of mine said she told her kids that they could tell her anything. That she may be angry/surprised at the beginning but she would do her best to listen and wouldn't respond until she could calmly.
