I did that 2 days ago. I was fixing me a cup of hot tea and there was just a little milk left and it said use by the 20th. So I smelled it and smelled fine but I once drank a full glass of bad milk once to I was really leary of using it. So I decided to be brave and poured it in my cup and it didn't curdle so I drank it. I still didn't enjoy it though...I kept waiting to get cramps. I won't do that again.

Absolutely. I worked in the wholesale grocery business for almost 20 years. Those codes are put on there to protect the producer. Often times it says, "best if used by . . . "
