  • It's simply because we're running out of job ideas in the kitchen. If you're going to pay a real chef thousands of dollars to cook good food, you may as well get your money's worth buy making him produce good tasting, and good looking food as well (From a practical restaurant owner point of view). Human are judgmental beings, even towards their food.
  • I think the decoration makes food look more delicious, so it does have a purpose.
  • I think that we try to incorporate all of our senses into the pleasure of eating. I remember a food scientist stating that we even clink our glasses at the beginning of a meal to incorporate another sense into the act of eating...(maybe Jane Brody??)
  • yeah look how long it takes to make a wedding cake and what has to be done to it and then in a few mins its all gone
