G'day FauxLo, Thank you for your question. Not really. My Dad does it all the time but then he's nearly 80. It is probably one of the things that happens as you get older. Regards

Unfortunately, people who like to talk a lot tend to forget who they have told a story to because they have told so many people, so it is inevitable when dealing with such as these that you will hear the story more than once. Yes ! I have a theory that people have only 5 stories and they repeat them over and over !!! :)
-
Yes and no. My memory is not fantastic, so I have to hear something at least three times before I'm likely to remember it. However, once I've reached that fourth time, it's pretty irritating.
-
Definitely! I'm a kind but impatient person, and it just starts to feel boring and like a time-suck after a while. Here's something else - it drives me crazy when people are describing a repetitive process and they say that it happened "over and over and over and over...". I'm like, just "over and over" would have been enough... :)

I work with someone who does this. Not only does he tell it twice..he does it back to back like I didnt hear exactly what he said the first time. Its irritating.

Kinda depends on the story. I WISH I had heard them more, and/or recorded some of my ex-father-in-law's stories - about his businesses and about his experiences being shot down over Germany during WWII, his capture and imprisonment in one of the Luft-Stalags, his forced Death March in blizzard conditions across Germany, and his liberation by Patton's army. If you are getting stories like those, might I suggest you record and transcribe them for YOUR kids, THEIR kids, some history societies, etc.?

Not at all. I understand that people can't always remember what they have told or if the story is something near and dear to their hearts. It could be the highlight of their life and something that maybe new hearers should hear. Life isn't so hurried and I'm not so important that I can't let someone repeat something. Who knows they might add something new:-)

i hate it. i'm with you on this one. and i hate repeating myself
-
Only when I say I've heard it before and they still tell me.

I friggin hate it! my sister does it and im like ok i got it then she says it again then i tell her to shutup and she repeats it like 100 more times
