  • Love your question and here is the answer. wanted posters have been in post offices, since hector was a pup. i believe there a federal law that requires this. no, you do not have to write to these wanted people. yes, federal agencies are always hoping you may see one of these fugitives and notify the police. Having fugitives faces on postage stamps would not be cost-effective. If a wanted person has his photo on a postage stamp and there are one million stamps produced, if the fugitive is caught right-a-way, there would 900,000 stamps still out there, for no reason.
  • Because it is a government agency that people go to every day. You probably go there more often than the Social Security office or your congressman's office. However, recently wanted posters have been moved behind the counter. There's probably even a better chance that a postal employee might recognize someone on a wanted poster.
