The dictionary. In this way they would get a lot of knowledge about all the words and their usage.

The Encyclopedia Britannica - all volumes.

War and Peace, so that at least it will last a long time.

First, I would be completely flabbergasted, and I'd probably cry. Reading is my passion. I read all the time. I'm a book editor. Then I'd recommend George Eliot's "Middlemarch."
