Jesus was God's only begotten Son, and when Jesus prayed, He called God Father, for God is God the Father. A great example of this is a quote of Christ's when he was on the cross, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do". He was referring to the fact that He was God's only Son and that He lived perfectly and that He was born to teach and lead the lost and heal the sick, and to die so that all may live eternally. Also, Barabbas the notorious murderer was let go when he was supposed to die that day, and they chose Christ to die instead, as they hated Christ's message more than the sins of Barabbas. It is virtually impossible to fully comprehend this one statement, but if we study the scriptures and in particular when the Gospels mention the death of Jesus (Matthew, MArk, Luke and John all mention it), we may glean more and more insight on this event and the inner truth of this one saying by my Savior.

I belive he addressed God always as Father.
-
Jesus addressed him as "my Father".
-
Father...to show how we should as humans...how HE did as a human...a PERFECT HUMAN....but flesh and blood...
-
Jesus always called Him "Father". This is also how we now that Jesus was still teaching on the cross. Mark 15:34 and Matthew 27:46 "And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus was teaching Psalm 22 which begins "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?..." - If He were praying it would be "Father, Father, why have you forsaken me?"

i see in the bible every human is called the son of God !!!

Jesusd would have addressed him as ...my Father... Which supports this scripture... (Matthew 23:9) Moreover, do not call anyone YOUR father on earth, for one is YOUR Father, the heavenly One. The use of the word "father" in a spiritual sense, should NOT be directed at any human. It is o.k. to address your PHYSICAL FATHER AS SUCH...Because this is not said in any spiritual sense. The practice of religions that use the term towards their priests is scripturally wrong.

Jesus was God in Human form. Everything Jesus did was to be a lesson for us. Jesus is our ultimate example of how we should act and what we should do? When He prayed he said "Father". People use that to say Jesus was not God, because why would he be talking to himself? He was doing that to show how we should address and perceive God, as our father.

Um, Jesus claimed to be God himself. So he was actually praying to himself. LOL

Jesus called Him "Abba." In His culture and time Abba was the equivalent not of "father" but of "pappa" or "dad." It was thought to be scandalously familiar and almost blasphemously informal and irreverent at the time. However, we should remember that fathers in ancient Judea were respected and honored: "Abba" was a term of both respect AND intimacy and endearment. It bore no resemblance to flippant adolecent terms for the old man like the once popular "pops" or "daddy-o."
