It is every Americans soveriegn right to bear a firearm. The United States government shall make no law or statute that infringes upon the right to bear firearms. Even in our modern times, there are those who protest that this right is out dated and not neccessary because we now have the police to protect us. This is far from the truth, as no police officer is obligated to respond or protect you, there is no law or statute that states that they must protect you. An officer only has to respond if a crime has been committed, and is issued his firearm for his own self protection, not yours.

    Interesting quotes;

“There are not enough jails, not enough police, not enough courts to enforce a law not supported by the people.” - Hubert H. Humphrey quotes (American 38th US Vice President under Lyndon B. Johnson (1965-69) and US Senator from Minnesota (1949-64, 1971-78). 1911-1978)

“We live in an age when pizza gets to your home before the police.” - Jeff Marder

“Every kind of peaceful cooperation among men is primarily based on mutual trust and only secondarily on institutions such as courts of justice and police” - Albert Einstein quotes (German born American Physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity. Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921. 1879-1955)
    Similar Quotes. About: Trust quotes.

“The police cannot protect the citizen at this stage of our development, and they cannot even protect themselves in many cases. It is up to the private citizen to protect himself and his family, and this is not only acceptable, but mandatory.” - Jeff Cooper

“I do not believe in people owning guns. Guns should be owned only by [the] police and military. I am going to do everything I can to disarm this state.” - Michael Dukakis quotes (Massachussetts Governor, presidential candidate (1988) , American b.1933)

“There is no reason for anyone in this country, anyone except a police officer or a military person, to buy, to own, to have, to use a handgun... and the only way to do that is to change the Constitution.” - Michael Gartner

“After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.” - William S. Burroughs quotes

“Citizens have the natural right and the common sense duty to protect themselves, their families, their communities, and their property...guns are the equalizing tools of self-protection, utopian lamentations notwithstanding.” - Edgar A. Suter

My Dad was a cop and I grew up around guns...he has several. I don't have a problem with people owning guns as long as they have had proper training in gun safety.

I use them for Sporting Clays and Home Protection but do not hunt. I don't see any problem owning them for reasons other than hunting.

Guns are pieces of machinery which, like most machinery, can cause harm if mis-used. The ownership and study of firearms provides historical insight to the industrial revolution in western civilization. Owning a gun (or guns) is no more or less significant than owing knives or hammers or screwdrivers or pliers. There is absolutely nothying inherently "wrong" with owning anything. There is something wrong with using anything to deliberately, or negligently hurting another, even if you deliberately drop a bowling ball on their foot. Maybe registering bowling balls will be helpful?

It is our right to be able to defend our selves. I own a weapon and I do not hunt. No one is ever ready to kill a person............I want you to defend that when you are dead and the criminal is free.

I think it is a fine thing to have a gun, a car, electricity, kitchen mixers, dogs and all sorts of things that can cause injury if misused.

I'm not much for personal protection weapons, I guess because I'm not ready to use it on a human. But if others feel the need and get proper training, it's okay.

I beleive that it is perfectly acceptable. The reason for this is Guns are tools plain and simple. They are not a physical manifestation of the devil as the media would have you beleive. Remember that guns dont kill people; people kill people.

I have no problem with pistols for defense, even perhaps a shotgun if you live near a population of zombies, but when you've got automatic weapons and high powered rifles... I think you've gone too far.

    I own personal protection guns.

As soon as they destroy all the other guns, I'll turn mine in to be disposed of as well.

Never bring a knife to a gunfight.

I know I will be relagated to the bottom of the heap for my peaceful view which is looked down upon, views though hope some will get to read it. I am fully against the owning of handguns or any guns that is built for the sole purpose to kill or injure another human being. It is not a way for a civilization to advance, and guns are not a way to solve problems .

It bothers me. You never know when a gun-grandisher is going to lose the plot over something trifling and do something that could harm another.

It's a must have for every free person. Buy as many as you can get, store up ammo, food and water filtration/storage, survival equipment and the like. You never know when society will go rotten and change from easy to impossible.

I think only guns used for hunting or collecting should be allowed.Handguns are only used to kill another human being and not to kill an animal. The constitution says one can own a gun,but not specifically a hand gun.The law should stipulate only rifles or collectors guns be allowed.

I'm fine with people having one or two for self defense and home defense, as long as they get lots of proper training ... but I fail to see the need for 80 or 90 guns in a collection.

I think owning something like an assault rifle (used in the recent Halloween trick-or-treater death) is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should own one of those, I don't care if you are retired military or police. There's just no reason for it.

I believe as in the second commandment it is our right. With all the violence now and days i think everyone should carry a counseled weapon.

I dont want to ever have guns in my home, I am not to keen on anyone else owning them either. If they have them under lock and key when not in use it still seems unsafe to me. This is of course my personal opinion.
