Neither one.

It's not just athiests that don't believe in hell... it's a christian concept that was developed in the new testament, probably based on popular ideas about hell that jews held 2000 years ago. Hindus and buddhists don't believe in the christian concept of heaven and hell either.
-
The question assumes that all Atheists believe the same thing. I have met Atheists who believe in Heaven, but never have I found one who believes in Hell. Unless one is able to interview every Atheist, the question goes without a definative answer.
-
I thought athiests didn't believe in anything...
-
Nope. I beleive in it as much as you beleive in the Easter Bunny.(And hopefuly, you don't......)
-
No. Heaven and hell are both Christian concepts.
-
No, heaven and hell belong to "god" and "satan", so to believe in heaven or hell would negate atheism.
-
Atheists simply lack a belief in a god or gods; more commonly, an atheist (aka "strong atheist") actively disbelieves in the existence of a god or gods. So, it's THEORETICALLY possible for one to believe in things like heaven and hell, but since those concepts originate with Christianity, it's very unlikely. Some atheists believe that intelligence and our technology will eventually allow us to transform the universe into a sort of "heaven", and even to technologically resurrect the dead (either by reclaiming their mental information by time travel, from the scrambled but ultimately conserved information, or, through a guided process based on knowledge of historical constraints, "randomly" generate minds without limit, which would inevitably lead to the "resurrection" of all minds that did exist or could exist, given that we can be described by a finite amount of information). An atheist can believe anything - other than the existence of a god or gods, by definition.

This one doesn't and I doubt any do.

If Hell is real then so is Heaven. and if Heaven is real then so is Hell. Here are a few elements relating to Heaven and Hell: 1. Near death experiences of true testomonies: see the site: http://bibleprobe.com/nde.htm 2. Sounds of Hell have been recorded after many scientists and archeologists teams of diggers dug a huge hole in Siberia. The ground soon broke after a few kilometres deep - it was discovered that the Earth is hollow. Then they recorded the Hell sounds by a hanging microphone - plus the heat rose to 2000C or mroe. see the link on youtube: "HELLSOUND FROM SIBERIA DIGGINGS" and "Hell Is Real" 3. On youtube are testomonies of near death expereinces just type in "near death experiences" and watch them all.

Atheist do not believe in a god. Other than that we believe what ever we want. No god does not mean no afterlife. God is not required for their to be a heaven etc etc. Atheists believe all sorts of things. Some think evolution is correct, some don't. Some believe in pink fairies some don't. Some think they are pink fairies, most don't. Its called freedom to think for yourself.
-
no, they don't.
-
I believe you die and get buried 6 feet down. End of story.
-
nope

While I generally dont like to give yes / no answers for things atheist, for this one I'm pretty confident I can say, no we dont.
-
No. It's a completely ridiculous notion and has done more harm in striking needless fear in people, causing all levels of neurosis, self-loathing and utter confusion. It is nothing more than manipulative propaganda to instill obedience to authority.

Hell: definitely not. And to tell the truth I have a very hard time seeing how any religious person who believe in a loving God can believe in Hell either. The punishment exacted there are applied long after the time where it could possibly have any corrective or rehabilitating effect. Pure vengeance and vindictiveness by Christian standards as I understand them. Heaven: sort of. Buddhism (the religion without a god) teaches that people who are good and wise enough can eventually achieve nirvana (become one with the all). An atheist could be Buddhist and believe that. regards JakobA

Nope.

I cannot personally speak for anyone else but I don't. Now having said that, I do believe in good and evil and I suppose that could be the equivalent of heaven and hell in a non-religious setting. In other words, I don't need religion to distinguish between ultra-good and ultra-bad and I believe heaven (good) and hell (bad) are connected to a state of mind not someplace you go after your body expires.
-
Yes, but to them, heaven is going to a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream shop with a gift certificate, and Hell is spending the weekend entertaining your mother in law.
-
Not usually but there's no reason why they shouldn't.
-
Probably not. Atheists don't believe in any deities, therefore for them there is no Judgement Day and no eternal punishment or reward. However, atheists could have differing beliefs about what exactly happens when we die. A lot of us just figure that upon death there's just nothing. But some people believe our consciousness becomes one with the universe or the oversoul or something like that. Because the mind/body connection is not fully explained and we are so uniquely conscious as human beings, it's easy to think that our consciousness could go on somehow after we die. Some people believe in spirits even though they don't believe in religion. And some religions include features like Nirvana and Reincarnation without believing in any particular God overseeing it. Personally I'm not sure. I think there is probably nothing. But sometimes I think the oneness thing would be nice.
