  • Prayer has worked for me.
  • Prayer doesn't work by definition, because you aren't getting a request filled, you're getting what your God planned to do anyway. You have no choice in the matter so prayer is nothing more than a way to pass the time waiting for whatever your God was going to do anyway, like idly flipping a coin and guessing which way it will end up.
  • I'm a believer (in God) not in the book written by men) & sometimes I thinkthe best prayers are the ones that go unanswered. I prayed for my marriage to be saved in 94 but if it had my life would be hell right now
  • Having our prayers heard does not depend on the specially worded prayers in a book, or an appeal to “saints.” It does not depend on repeating the same thing a prescribed number of times while counting with a rosary. Nor does it depend on using “tongues” to say words that we do not understand. Rather, having our prayers heard requires approach through Jesus Christ and depends on our hearts and on our obedience to God. The apostle John wrote: “Beloved ones, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have freeness of speech toward God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we are observing his commandments and are doing the things that are pleasing in his eyes. Indeed, this is his commandment, that we have faith in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and be loving one another, just as he gave us commandment.”—1 John 3:21-23. Our prayers must be in harmony with God’s will and his purposes. Thus, John said: “This is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us.”—1 John 5:14. It is a great condescension on God’s part to let us approach him in prayer. Such a relationship is an inestimable privilege. If we appreciate the opportunity of approaching God, and if we keep our hearts sensitive to his will, our minds will make right decisions and will direct us to act in ways that meet with divine approval. What will be the result? Just the opposite of having a “communication gap” with God. Fittingly, the disciple James wrote: “Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.”—Jas. 4:8.
  • Prayer is an act of faith, it shows contrition, repentance, devotion and trust that God will do what is best for you. Prayer is not simply Gods department store where you shop for free. Prayer works, I have seen it and felt its presence in my life.
  • I guess prayer works but you want it in your method ...that does not work :-)
  • The Christian answer is that you pray for God's will to take place. If your will is in sync with God's, then your prayers will be answered.
  • who said prayer doesn't work? praying isn't like calling up a customer service number. You can't expect immediate tangible results.
  • Prayer does work. Where does your faith lye? You must put your trust in the God, and He will work everything out in due time.
  • Sometimes the answer is "no".
  • God is not an ATM machine, just there to answer our prayers. He will make decisions based on 2 things: 1)does it glorify Him and 2)our needs, which He knows better than us. I have seen answered prayer in my life and others, it does work.
  • Prayer does work. God exists and he does hear your prayers. If you are praying about something he does hear you, its all in HIS timing when he gives you an answer. He knows when the timing is right. I know it seems like we, ourselves, think our timing is perfect but I've found out from experience that his timing is the right timing, not on my timing. Trust me, he knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows whats best for us. Hope that helps.:)
  • Prayer works. But probably it is not like: "Could I please win the jackpot next weekend?". Or even "Could my child please not die?" The very act of putting oneself in a state of prayer has probably some positive effects.
  • Because you don't have a relationship with Him - do you do things for people you don't know or hang out with when they keep asking - just a thought +
  • Sometimes unanswered prayers are a greater gift from God than answered prayers.
