Trolls are people whose purpose for being on this website is to give other members grief. This can be done by impersonating a member (cloning), asking vile and/or inflammatory questions, flaming (insulting) askers and answerers, starting fights, and so forth. Then we have the points down trolls. I see that you were hit by one of those. I routinely points up any question or answer that I have seen be hit by a points down troll. They points down without leaving a comment and can either target a specific user, a topic, or just be random. Troll peeves is where we talk about what pisses us off about trolls and how we handle them.
