Have you ever hocked up a small white ball about 2-3 millimeters across that smells awful and has a soft shell that you can easily squish? The texture is almost that of cream of wheat. Is this related to acid reflux or is it something else serious?

You have entered the disgusting world of tonsiliths or tonsil stones. Tonsils can have crypts/cavitation's in them that collect debris from food, etc. They will self-clean every once in awhile by producing the disgusting white ball you describe. It's best to be proactive and clean out the tonsils and gargle frequently. Dont worry it is a common condition and FAR more people have it than think that they do.

My friend has a very long tongue, and she told me that once she reached back in her mouth with her tongue and found in her tonsils or uvula or something just what you described. This was at least a decade ago and no harm befell her since then, so I guess it can't be serious. I've always suspected we probably all have them, but we don't find them because we don't have tongues like hers!
