Why does it make people uncomfortable to sit next to strangers?

Not me, I usually try to strike up a conversation and if they are unwilling then we both know to be quiet :o)

Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet. Actually, I hate sitting next to anyone whether I know them or not. I sit alone at church, the ball game, even at home. Solitude is my sanctuary.
