No, I haven't received mine yet either. I won't receive them until next week probably.

Companies must MAIL them by January 31st. If you haven't received it within a decent amount of time after that, start calling your company and finding out where it is.

We've received mine, but not my husband's. My understanding is that businesses have to have them issued by January 31st each year.

Employers have until Feb 2 this year to get them in the mail due to Jan 31 being a Saturday. There is alot of bookkeeping that must be done before W2s can be issued..all the annual reports must be completed and balanced! And I dont' think the IRS is ready yet to start accepting returns! Please be patient with your employer!

Employers must mail employee copies by 2/2/2009.
Employees must report errors to employer. Employers then make final report to IRS by March 2, 2009 (or March 31 if filing electronically).

    IRS instructions to employers:
    http://www.irs.gov/instructions/iw2w3/ch01.html

Furnish Copies B, C, and 2 of Form W-2 to your employees, generally, by February 2, 2009. You will meet the “furnish” requirement if the form is properly addressed and mailed on or before the due date.

IF YOU HAVEN'T RECEIVED Y0UR W-2 BY 2/15 CONTACT THE EMPLOYER AND THE IRS. THEY ARE USUALLY DUE ON THE 31ST OF JAN. IF YOU GET NO RESPONSE FROM YOUR EMPLOYER OR IRS USE FORM 4852 WHEN YOU FILE. IF THEIR ARE ANY COSEQUENCES FOR NOT SENDING THE EMPLOYEES W-2'S I HAVEN'T FOUND IT YET!

If you have not received your W-2 by March 1st then start inquiring about its whereabouts. It only takes a few hours to do your taxes so as long as they are prepared by 4/15/09 you are fine. Be patient.

As a small business owner, I will try & help answer this one. W2's and 1099s can't be completed until January 1st, but I think the law allows them to be filled out anytime between the 1st and the 30th. Most employers will have them done by the 15th. You should receive yours by the end of the month. I have known friends who did not get theirs until February or March--so you might contact your employer(s), etc.

End of January is the Rule. You can lodge a formal complaint with the IRS on or after Feb 15th, by calling 800-829-0922

If you have a tax question check the irs.gov web site. I am a bookkeeper and tax preparer, if my clients tell me something that a friend told them, I always give them the correct ruling from the irs or our state. It is true that all w-2's are to be sent out by jan.31, but that does not mean that you will get them by that date.

I am with you. The Regus Management Group is the worst at getting their employees COBRA let alone a W2 on time but it seems the government will do nothing about it.

By law, your employer does not have to mail them until January 31st. Some places will wait until the 31st to mail it - if you haven't received your W-2 forms by the second week of February, I'd call and verify that my former employer has the most current address information for you.

Federal law requires that employers mail W-2, Wage and Earning Statement, by January 31 of the year the taxes must be filed.
If the form is not received by February 15, call your employer for a second copy of the form. If you can't get that within 10 days, call 1-800-829-1040 to order a Substitute W-2. (You can pick one up at any tax office.)
Feb 15 is the earliest that you can file with a substitute W-2. If it is post-marked earlier, the IRS will not accept it.

No and I find this ridiculous, since I work for the State of New York. Come on, it's 2012, for crying out loud, this should all be done electronically.

If you don't get a W2 and you've tried to contact the past employer unsuccessfully, you can estimate what you earned for that past year and what was withheld for taxes on a form the IRS will supply you. You attach that form to your income tax return.
