1John 4:8 says, "He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love" The bible speaks of god as the very personification of love, tells up that one that does not love can not get to know god's personality. Isiah 12:2 - Look! God is my salvation. I shall trust and be in no dread; for Jah Jehovah is my strength and my might, and he came to be the salvation of me. --See also Psalms 83:18-- The bible also shows how we can return the love. 1 John 5:3 - "For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome..."

Of course John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should have everlasting life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." God's love is also found between Genesis and Revelation.

Read the story of the Prodigal Son. The Son did all the wrong things that people do, but the Father welcomed his son home with open arems. For those who point to John 3:16, be sure to put that verse in proper context... it is about the Spirit and the Light of God... not blood for sin. To me, the Bible shows us God's love in the healings in both the old and the new testament. Widows are supplied for, lepers cleansed, sight and hearing restored, the dead brought back to life. To me this says, over and over, God is love, his creation is all good. God did not make poverty, sickness, sin, and death. These result from a misunderstanding of the true nature of God. But an understanding of the love of God removes poverty, heals sickness, heals the sinner, and always upholds life.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
