Are you deliberately mean to telemarketing people? I've just read a highly-rated question here making fun of telemarketing people, and it makes me sick because I'm one.

Yes. Those calls are annoying and inconvenient. It is like you guys know exactly when I put an ass cheek on the toilet or when I am about to put my first bite of dinner in my mouth.

I get alot of telemarketing calls at work. They are a cramp in the butt, they interupt the projects I am working on, or the customer I am working with. On the other hand, telemarketing is how my mother supported our family for two years. It is a rough job. Now, once I find out that the call is a telemarketer, I politely say 'I am not interested, but thank you for calling'. Then I hang up. Hopefully I am saving both of us wasted time in this mannner, while attemping some politeness. If it is a recording I just hang up.

Nope, I'm definitely not deliberately mean to telemarketers. I know they are just trying to make their way in this world like the rest of us. What I do find annoying is when a telemarketer won't take my polite "no" for a final answer - then I feel badgered which just makes me very annoyed.

If they call on SUndays or after 9 P.M., yes I'm rude. I did that job part time for about a year. We called during the day and only about 10% of the people were rude.

I wouldn't say that I'm deliberately mean to them. I have done some telemarketing work in the past. I know how hard and thankless the job can be. But they always seem to call at the worse possible time.

im not mean myself i would just hang up as they have other ppl to talk to my dad when hes in a bad mood is terrible 2 them sum times...eg this poor girl called and he was on the phone 4 like 45 minutes shouting and yelling at her then ORDERED her to stand up put a pencil stood up on her chair and sit on it!! i felt so sorry 4 her as at the end of the day shes just doing her job! anyone who had a very angry man telling her to shove a pencil up her a$s im very sorry :S!

Amen. I'm in the same boat with you. But I'm a debt collector. people think its funny to say stupid crap to you for just doing your job. What people dont know is that we have heard everything, so your "witty" comment makes YOU look a moron! So for those people that think it's funny to run your mouth to people like us. just remember we are people just like you just doing our job.

I am not mean, I play jokes on them. I used to be a telemarketer back in the day. Why do you let it offend you, so much? Look at all the crap lawyers get, or police men. Most people get annoyed with pushy type telemarketers, I mean how many times do you have to say NO. If my commment upset you , I apologize, it wasnt meant to be a personal attack on you. :).

I'm not mean per say, I just hang up on them right away. I suppose that could be thought of as rude but once they start reading that script they intentionally never let you get a world in edge wise and I don't have time to listen to their spiel.

I've never been mean to telemarketers, but I will hang up if they don't give me a chance to say I'm not interested OR if they persist after I say it. Now.. bill collectors are another matter.. as long as we can talk in a cival manner.. it's all good. But I've had some call and get rude from the very first word.. so they get the meanness.

I'm not rude, but I certainly get pissed when the same company calls my house OVER and OVER again after telling them I am NOT interested and to remove me from their list...I've had some call before 8 am, some after 9pm and it's EXTREMELY rude of them to do so, doing their job or not.

If someone calls my home trying to give me a "free" phone, even though I know I will be locked into an expensive contract, and then persists in telling me its free, then YES i will be rude. If someone calls me at a ridiculous hour, then YES i will be rude. If someone wont take no for an answer, then YES, ill be rude. If they call my house at all and disturb me by trying to sell me crap, do they really expect me to be warm and friendly??

If they call my office, yes, I'm rude. Businesses shouldn't have to put up with telemarketers, and if I am busy, I hang up immediately. No one calls my personal phone - it's a cell.

No, I worked in telephone sales(for an airline). I am never mean.I understand that they have a difficult job. But I am firm. When I say "no". I mean "no"...however I have had telemarketers be rude to me...I had one say, after I had said "I'm sorry, but I have told you repeated times that I am not interested. I am hanging up now"..She said "I AM NO FINISHED TALKING!'--surprise--she was.

No....I just inform them I am on the National Do Not Call registry and ask them why they are calling me.

Don't you view what you're doing as extremely intrusive? If someone wanted to buy something they know where to go.

Nope, I've worked for 3 different Telecommunications companies and I know how it feels - I try to be as kind as I would want someone to be to me.
