  • Macs are VERY good for graphic design, and most graphic designers prefer them.
  • PCs have more business applications and games. Macs are more user-friendly, stable, beautiful, and more fun to use.
  • I think Macs are good for multimedia (graph design, videos, gaming etc. PCs are good for office software and general home use. You would be hard pressed to find someone who does graphic design using a PC.
  • Generally Macs are good for multimedia design. Don't get me wrong, PCs are just as good, but macs just make it simpler. Their also extremely expensive, but some people seem to prefer them. Besides that Macs are good for surfing the net, dvdplayback. Not really gaming though. PC's are good for just about everything, ranging from multimedia (once again, Mac makes it much easier, but a PC can do the same job), surf the net, gaming, video playback, anything you can imagine. I personally prefer PC's because most programs are made for windows-not macs. (though some macs can now run windows)
  • I just think if you're creative and/or have a creative career, get a mac If you're logical and work in an office for example...use Windows
  • also macs get Way less viruses though i think i heard they have less of the same PC software. I'm a PC girl myself but my hubby used to work for apple.
  • Mac - System files, source code, everything is kept hidden locked away never to be seen. Use less resources, are un-customizable. Developers have a hard time making their programs work with mac because of this. Windows - more open with their code, system files are accessible, there's a lot of freeware. Games tend to only work on Windows, a lot of programs as well. Mac tries to make their computers/devices exclusive. Windows is compatible with almost anything Macs aren't any better for designing, they just use less system resources for the OS, leaving more for your programs.
  • Macs are more user-friendly,beautiful,and more fun to use. And PC have much applications can use.
  • I'm a PC person myself, but i use a Mac at the studio. I find Windows has many more applications that are able to do a given task in many different ways, and are much more customisable, albeit there are also a lot of rubbish programs out there too. It helps to know what you are doing. Macs seem to be quite isolated as far as programs and customisablilty goes, but it seems that the programs that are available are much mor thoght out, and more stable. As far as virusus go, i've never really had any troubles with my computer wih anything like that, although plenty of people who don't know what they are doing seem to get viruses very easily on windows. (The studio Mac isn't on the net.) I have heard that for a persn who has NEVER used a computer before - macs are easier to understand.I can't vouch for this statement though. I would try Linux, but i honestly couldn't be bothered at the moment. :)
  • Mac brings a user friendly vibe to the computer world. One that allows it to be either/or (Mac or PC). Apple found a way to make it fun, creative, technical, but practical and just gives you a sense that you know what you are doing and are in control of your computer, not the other way around. I have yet to have my Macbook Pro crash on me. I always have many programs open, and at times I'm multi-tasking with 7-10 programs at the same time. No crashes. I wish I could say something close to the same for my PC. Plus I use Word, Xcel, Tax Cut and many other former PC popular programs. Yet even those programs possess a great feel when opened on the Mac. Oh yeah and by the way when I want the mac to emulate a PC, I can do that also. The Opposite is not so easy to do. H
  • Macs have snob appeal.
  • both machines are good for communicating with their own type macs are good for non savy people who want to pay a technician to straighten out issues. they also have more advanced arts industry software. they also can not be programmed to run PC software because they gave up using their own chip and use the PC chip. PCs are better for most bussiness and home computing applications and are far more compatible with everything. tech support can be a headache because there are more companies with a hand in your machine, but if you are savy, or have a savy friend odds are you will not need tech support. most problems could be fixed by a HS student (not every kid can, but every kid knows a kid who can) for less than 1/4 the cost of a professional. I do not touch mac for the same reason I do not use automated backups... I do not trust them to behave the way I want them to. PCs generaly obey me unless they have a critical failure... Do not let mac users fool you about mac relyability... my grandpas macs broke down every other year and because noone knew how to fix them he had to buy a new one every 2 years +-, my PC has been running 5 years, had to reinstall from scratch 3 times... twice because my wife got a virus. and once because norton expired (NEVER INSTALL NORTON, if you let your subscription expire, they do not just stop updating your program, they turn it off destabilizing your entire PC.)
  • macs are based on "unix" and pcs are based on "dos" dos is very complicated and leads to a highly unstable infrastuctur full of places for bad sripts"viruses" to infiltrate and demolish. however, it is more wide spread, more versitile, more flexible, and can support more complex instructions Mac is "unix" and very simple compared to dos. it is faster, require way less resources, much more stable, less open to virus attack, and more secure. but is less suported by sofeware, (thus what you find often cost more) and has a problem with some intensive tasks(like high resolution, fast refereshing vedio) however there exist 2 more main branches: Linux: (the one i am current typing the reply in) is fast, secure, very very stable, requires few resources, totally FREE and that includes ANY and ALL software, very flexible to an extent windows and apple can only dream, and decent for data intensive tasks. solaris: made by sun micro systems, the creaters of a hugh amount of free software(includding open office, java, and others). i know nothing about this operating system but have heard nothing bad. my friend just installed it to try it out.
