  • drink vinegar
  • Expressing milk creates more milk. If you pump your breasts between feedings, you will make more milk. Don't over-do it, or you may get engorged. The less you express, the less you will make. Don't slow down; pick up the pace. Good luck.
  • According to an OB-Gyne, you need at least 3500 calories a day and, of course "My Favourite Life" is correct. You don't have to worry about getting fat on 3500 calories as long as you continue to breast feed.
  • i was going to say express more, however I also wanted to say that you shouldnt feel guilty...you have got the next 18 years feeling guilty for something or another!! its only proven that breast milk is significantly better for your child in the first few weeks, so worry not and good luck
  • Make sure you have enough fluid intake. Good for you fluids that won't upset the baby through your breast milk. And let the baby nurse longer even when there is no milk because as someone else said that is how more milk is made.
  • The more formula you give him/her, the less milk you will produce, if you aren't expressing. Your body reacts to produce the amount you need, based on the amount thats been used. Of course you should drink plenty of fluids, and have adequate caloric intake as well. Theres no need for you to feel inadequate at all. Some women don't make it past the first month, or the soreness, I'm sure you are doing a fine job.
  • Eating a bowl of oatmeal for breastfast should help increase your milk supply.
  • you shouldnt feel inadequate!! the other answers have all got good advise, express between feeds, the more you use, the more you will produce. i have one other thing to add.. if baby has a dummy or knub, the sucking reflex will lessen, therefore, when feeding from the breast, baby wont get as much milk, increasing the need for fomula.
