Definitely a fun date with the fast food and comedy. Save the fancy restaurant until I know him better and want a romantic date.
-
they both sound crappy to me. i would rather go to a dingy diner and have a milk shake and fries (with ranch dressing), and then go to the dollar theatre and watch whatever movie they were showing.
-
fancy dinner and the latest popular movie...for the first and second and ...so on. Because let me tell you...after awhile it's all nights in watching a rented movie...eat it up while you can.

It depends on who the other half of the date is. A nice sit-down dinner usually gives you plenty of time for conversation, so no matter what the rest of the date is like, that's better than fast food, in my book. "Dinner and a movie" is a bit hackneyed, though, in my opinion, even for a first date. My first date with my wife was a picnic in a local wildlife park. No movie involved--we just watched the sunset together while we chatted.

I like a sit down dinner but to keep the pressure to perform low... should be casual, bluejeans comfy shirt. A decent down to earth eatery like Chili's or somethin... then catch a good movie if both can agree on something both like. ;-)

The frist choice. Fun...

Fancy dinner with the popular movie will run you at least 150.00 bucks...so it depends on your financial status.

For a first date? I'd have to go with a fancier restaurant and movie. Worst case you can at least make fun of the classy restaurant and have something to talk about.
-
On a first date, I would rather not do either of those things. I would want to do something different that not everyone does. To me, dinner and a movie is something to do when you've been out a few times, or even more, have been going out a long time. Be creative, so that your date is the memorable date.

The latter option shows a bit of class and leaves your date with a good impression.
