Yes. It looks like you are screaming at me.
-
Yes. i have to change to my other eyeglasses to read the large print. keep it small, keep it neat, please.
-
WE ARE CONDITIONED TO READ ALL-CAPS WORDS AS YELLING/SHOUTING/SCREAMING ETC. SO WHEN POSTERS TYPE IN ALL-CAPS... IT ANNOYS OTHERS... EXCEPT FOR ME.
-
I have to backoff the screen, in order to read all caps. my eyeglasses were not prescribed for all caps. the other answer is correct....its like you are screaming for attention. its okay, if you really want to emphasize one or two words. Please respect all users of answerbag and do not use all caps. thanks.
-
It annoys me because I feel like the person is using it to try and draw attention to their post because they feel like they have something SO VERY IMPORTANT to say. It does draw attention to the post, but often for the wrong reasons. I don't know about others, but I have a tendency (correctly or incorrectly) to assume that a poster who writes all in capitals is less intelligent than average. I often find that it tends to be propaganda merchants who use it most- those with a particular religious, political or moral viewpoint to put across, and therefore they tend to be generally less useful than other posts. I think it harms your case, anyhow.
-
Yes, and it also bugs Yahoo! Answers users.
-
It annoys me, and I know it can happen accidentally in chats and the like, but please, on a site like this, make sure your message is not in all capital letters before you submit it. It not only violate netiquette rules to type in all caps, it is difficult to read. Please understand that this may not be the opinion of all users. Most questions in all caps I will ignore completely. It's just a surefire way to show immaturity and to be ignored.
-
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO BE YELLED AT?!?!
-
In netiquette, it's considered to be like yelling if you type in all capital letters.
-
I dont know what difference it makes. Some think it is like yelling, I dont know, it doesnt bother me one way or the other.
-
Yes, it is considered yelling but it's also harder to read all caps. It's even worse when it's a sans serif font.
-
Doesnt matter to me.
-
Yes, It says to me they're striving for attention
-
How ABouT ThiS IS ThiS ANNOyinG
-
Sometimes. I think that typing normally is better. Lower case letters. Using capital letters isn't so annoying unless someone uses it all the time. (by the way, i rated your question back up again since it was rated down. :D)
-
VERY MUCH PLEASE DONT EVER TYPE IN ALL CAPS EVER AGAIN!
-
I get the impression people are metaphorically yelling when they type in all caps. I HATE IT!
-
STOP YELLING AT ME!!!!!!
-
NOPE,NOT me.
-
Yes I hate Caps lock there is no point in it unless you are starting off a sentence or trying to yell at someone. Other wise DONT USE IT
-
Sometimes, yes,...I don't know why it bothers me, though.....IT JUST DOES, OK!!!!!! LOL! ;-)
-
Yes, it feels like people are shouting at you and I'd like to ignore questions asked in capitals because they seem to be attention-seekers. Apart from this question, of course, because in this case it is very functional (points for your question). I'd only use capitals to EMPHASISE something because AB does not have Bold or Underline options. If it is going to be a habit of people asking questions in capitals, then I'm sorry but I will rate them down as a protest.
-
No it does not bother me at all. i sometimes like to write in all caps and that is not a way for me to get attention because i get the same amount of attention on my questions when i type lower case. the way you type is your preference... you should not get judged or downrated for it, yes its gonna bother some people but i say just move on, people make such a big deal about it. ALL CAPS IS YELLING...lower case is whispering whats the difference...its a personal style...common
-
i dont like caps..lol
-
Yes and it's poor netiquette
-
yea stop yelling at us! grrr lol anyway i realy do find it extreamly annoying
-
It doesn't particularly bother me, no.
-
Sometimes, but then so do those who SHOUT ANSWERS
-
I actually don't look at it as "shouting". I use caps when emphasizing a certain word while describing something. In example, "That's something I would NEVER do," or "You have to like SOMEthing..."
-
KINDA, BUT, PEOPLE WHO SHOUT ANSWERS ANNOY ME MORE!!!
-
When caps are used to stress certain words or ideas it's one thing, but it is rude to "shout".
-
Yes, very much so.
-
HAHA, MAN I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT! :)
-
It's considered rude online. It bothers me some, yes.
-
It doesn't bother me -
-
Completely. I is alright to capitalize one word if you do it for added emphasis, but that can be solved with quotes. It is rude and shows lack of respect for respondents. My other pet peeve is when some one posts a question that is similar to one already asked. If you could spend but a moment to check this you, you help maintain the integrity of the site.
-
It doesn't really bother me, it just looks like you are saying it really loud.
-
Yes, absolutely. Feels childish to me, like a sad way to get more attention.
-
It just looks bad in a typography sence.
-
um, it depends on the intent. when i'm pissed off i type in all caps sometimes. like, b****, you best check yo'self. my dad types in all caps, cause he's a slow typer (2 fingers) and he doesn't want to capatilize places, names, etc.
-
this question is a duplicate i'm sure you'll recive an email from answerbag letting you know. that being said...NO NOT AT ALL!
-
No because if I cant find my glasses I find I can read it better..so for those that do it..THANKS
-
Sometimes. It is considered shouting, therefore is also considered rude. Using caps to place emphasis on words is not the same as shouting your question or answer.
-
YES, ITS LIKE SOMEONE IS YELLING AT YOU!
-
No, not really. Sometimes though like if its the same person doing it all of the time.
-
NO, I LOVE WHEN PEOPLE SCREAM IN MY FACE FOR NO APPARENT REASON!!!
-
Ssssshhhh!
-
Yes, it makes me feel like you're yelling at me.
-
NoT aS mUcH aS pEoPlE wHo TyPe LiKe ThIs.
-
No, but duplicate questions do annoy me.
-
Yes it does. It is considered shouting to type in all caps, and people would listen to you less if done so.
-
YES, some people have a hangover, don't shout :-)
-
no not really, i know it does some people tho.
-
only if the words are rude too
-
Nothing really bothers me ,so how one types is way down on my list of concerns.
-
nodoesitannoyyouwhentherearenocapitallettersorpunctuationsorgapsbetweenwords
-
yes
-
YES, A BIT.
-
It does sometimes because its considered as SHOUTING!
-
Absolutely YES it does. I think that people are somehow thinking that CAPS gives emphasis to what they're saying. Usually those who do it, have nothing constructive to say, IMO.
-
HELL NO!!!
-
Yes, but not as much as when they use IM speak.
-
NoWhErE nEaR A$ mUch A$ aLL tHis!!
-
Almost as much as when people ask them in caps.
-
NO. BUT IT BOTHERS ME WHEN THEY ASK THEIR QUESTION IN ALL CAPS. ; )
-
well, your doing it righth now but in a question
-
I HAVE BEEN WRITING AND TYPING IN ALL CAPS FOR 30 YEARS....I'M NOT CHANGING....LOL
-
YES.
-
not really
-
I like capital letters and im offended :/
-
Now that question hurt my eyes , real bad , though I do understand your point
-
they don't care?
-
I know someone that has a disease which restricts movements of the fingers. She types with a pencil. It is far easier for her to use all caps than to type otherwise. As she also has vision problems, caps are easier for her to read.
-
Hopefully its just because their caps key is stuck, other than that I see no reason. It makes me feel like they are screaming because thats the only reason I type in caps.
-
dont ask again !!!!!
-
are you serious that capital letter can cause a seizure?
-
I think that they think it will get people's attention more than just normal letters. But in reality, it just annoys everyone.
-
WHAT IS THIS "CAPS" YOU SPEAK OF?!? :-)
-
I almost had a seizure reading your question.....
-
Ahh.. yes, a repeat question. Ah well. Yes, it does annoy me. It's even worse when it's a business-related email. Just got one of those last week. "From" and "Subject" were ALL CAPS TOO. Then there's another professional I know that constantly advertises on MySpace - sending 3 or 4 bulletins a day with very similar messages. Things are misspelled, grammatically incorrect, and often times she uses *no* capitals in her "sentences." That's just as unprofessional IMHO.
-
Personally speaking, no. It is after all a free country (and forum:).
-
Yes, very.
-
no dont bother me, I think u all make such a big deal over nothing... I THINK THATS CHILDLISH.. any one can type how ever they feel like it, and who ever dont like it, oh well I am sorry 4 u...
-
Yes, very much so.
-
NO, IT IS JUST TYPING
-
if you are annoyed by someone typing in all caps you are actually a no life, scum bag, anal retentive loser. honestly, is this your main consern in life that someone is typing in all caps??? you need therapy!!!
-
Not at all. But I do remember when I wa new to the computer and did that and got flamed on one board telling me I was screaming! I was stunned.
-
it does to me, i used to play online video games and whenever people would do that it'd be really annoying.
-
NOT A PROBLEM @ ALL...
-
Not really, but when someone used all caps, I tend to think they're having a bad day or something..
-
It's a bit irritating but not because of the reason you may think... To me it's kind of hard to tell the attitude of the person typing, so I automatically think they are upset.
-
Only in that it's very hard to read. I'll suggest they don't do it but be polite in doing so.
-
Yes, especially when they know that per "netiquette" that is considered shouting.
-
It's supposed to annoy people because it is widely known to be shouting at you.
-
Yes, I tend to avoid those questions.
