And whoever found this question unhelpful, it is intended to spur thought about what Christianity really is as there are numerous threads here asking questions like 'Is Christianity Evil' when what is called Christianity has little to do with what Christ taught and far more to do with the wolves in sheep's clothing who have pursued evil yet called it the will of God to justify their evil. I've found many unbelievers and not a few who consider themselves Christian who do not understand what Christianity is about. Which is sad, because no worker of iniquity shall gain the kingdom of heaven no matter how it is dressed up. Thank you for your input Reddy because your answer is the correct one. No matter what denominatinon one belongs to, study the Bible and compare it to what is taught in church. If the church teaches a false Christ (and many do), find one that is faithful. In the end, we will have to answer for our lives and the Bible warns us that there will be some who are firmly convinced they were Christ's obedient servants but who will be turned away from heaven because they were workers of iniquity. Be not deceived.

Christianity is the teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. Jesus prophesied a great apostasy where men would rise up after him and teach twisted things. This did indeed happen as foretold. That is why Christendom has gone so far astray from the things written. Many have left Christendom and applied themselves to what the Bible really teaches. God will judge those who have misrepresented him and that have stumbled so many people today. Someone marked you down. I have marked you back up.

technically i think in today's world it's whatever the churches and individuals believe about christ and what he taught according to the various interpretations of the bible, specifically the new testament. i think anybody who calls themself a christian and really means it would say they believe in the bible and what the new testament says [from matthew, mark, luke, john, epistles of paul, etc etc...] and then whatever else they would hand you would be also according to what they've found to agree. people don't practice what they don't agree with. faith is a very personal thing, even in a religion as large and diverse as christianity

Christian means Christ like. When believers were first called Christians it was meant to be a slander. Kind of like "those goody two shoes". Anyone following Christ and striving to be like Christ were called Christians.
-
Technically: It's the state of being a Christian.

To me being Christian is a matter of WHO you are trying to follow. If that is Christ, then you are a Christian even if every detail of everything you believe about him is dead wrong. Its in the intent. If absolute correctness is a requirement we're all sunk without a trace.

Christians: All those who have taken Jesus Christ as their guide and their example, and try to live according to his teachings and his example. . And those who are NOT Christians would not want to be called such, since Christ is not who they are trying to follow.
