That they believe the reason they need to have so many wives and children is because they believe they will get their own planet when they die and it is their job to inhabit said planet!

One thing I heard directly from several mormons who were trying to convert me, is that they believe God was a mormon who died and now gets to be a god himself. Apparently when mormons die, this is what they expect, to some degree. This defies one of the core things about Christianity, that God himself is unique and omnipotent. If God was a mormom, this would be impossible, as he would not have the omniscience.
