Help answer this question below.
Go to your profile and under preferences de-select the email notifications, and then just stop signing in. Sorry to see you go!
You can't delete your account.
Just rename yourself Anonymous, change your avatar to a blue bag, and don't come back.
Click the big red X in the upper right corner. Bye!
From the site itself? You can just leave and your account will remain dormant, or you could ask the staff to delete your account.
This has been answered well in this thread. I also have read the comment threads and have to say this...
I understand why you feel this way, although I do not know specifics.
Many people DO need to learn that a kind word goes much farther than a slap. Mocking and ridicule is also not needed.
One thing you can do if someone is bothering you is write to AB staff via the feedback link. Also, if you know someone is an *ss, do not reply to them.
I hope things turn out ok for you.
You can delete what's in your profile by clicking on Edit My Profile/Avatar and deleting any info that you have on there. You can also edit your answers and some of your questions by putting dots in their place. But, you can't delete the profile completely. I hope you haven't had a bad experience that has led you to decide to do something so drastic.
What's wrong Element???
You can not delete your AB account. You can remove all personal information from your profile and simply not sign in again.
Bye, mind the door, missing you already :o
Answerbag doesn't work like that. You don't close your account - you more or less abandon your account by not logging on any more. That way, if you change your mind and decide to come back, you can pick up where you left off.
What's wrong? Can I help? I can tell you that you can't delete your stuff. You can edit answers but the rest stays.
Not meaning to offend, but this sort of thing always baffles me. It is a free service and they do not track you down or send you a bill. Just stop participating. There is no need to cancel a membership. It is merely access. By asking the question, you will be notified by e-mail of posted answers. By not posting anything, you will eventually stop getting notifications. We will miss you though.
We don't allow people to actually delete profiles, but if you just set your display name to "Anonymous" and turn off the notifications, the account cannot be identified as yours, so it's as good as deleting it!
You'll miss us :-)
Just stop logging on
y do people make a big deal bou leaving dis. its free isnt it?
Go into your settings and disable email notifications.
1) Log in.
2) View Profile.
3) Select Settings > Preferences
That will disable your emails.
You can also:
# Change your username to anonymous.
# Change your registered email to something false.
# Delete your avatar.
# Delete your personal details.
# Remove the about me section of your profile.
The last screenshot (#4) shows how to change your avatar.

Not you too.
No need to yell at us. Just log out and go...quickly...and quietly.
You can send a feedback to the staff and request they delete you. I have heard others doing this.
No, not fast, why? What happened, Saved?
Change your profile name to anonymous and dont ever come back....that ought to do it.
You can just leave and never come back, or you can ask the staff to delete your account.
The obvious - stop logging on. Walk off into the cyber-sunset and don't look back.
Could you not just get rid of your e-mail notifications and then not come here aymore?
Go to "my computer, No Mine not yours"
Pull the plug, Hold above head, Swiftly hurll twords concrete floor, (CRASH) and then sweep up the pieces
(as the song says "theres no way out of here, when you come in your in for good" !!) LOL
( kidding... I have no clue ask jeeves! lol
Is that a test question also? If not - take a weeks break and all issues might be solved....
Send your request to admin AT answerbag.com.
Generally, AB-Rich is reluctant to delete whole accounts because that can end up removing a lot of content. But he is perfectly willing to put you in the Penalty Box for as long as you request.
You can not remove your profile or questions. You can remove all personal data from your profile, change the name to anonymous, log out and simply not log back in again.
no but you can stop going on here
Just log out and leave. You can't delete it.
It can be done ..but you need to follow every direction to the letter ..ok?!!?
people who can't read should not try this after reading this
first you will need to go and buy a new hard drive and donate your old hard drive to charity ,after that you need to get a new power cord ..not just any design will work though .. you have to get the deluxe, ultra elegant ,ergonomic ,child safe, pet proofed ,glow in the dark ,Surge protector hand made in Timbuktu by ancient tribesmen who complete each device when the full moon is highest in the sky after weeks of dance and song by the whole village .. with this surge protector/power cord your hard drive will have the power it needs to handle your commands of Delete Thumbnail,Close Window
You'll need to get a high priced corporate attorney ,,,,if he has mob ties it'd definitely be a plus !
There's no way to actually delete your account All you can do is change the email address to one you don't use.
Well, shouting is one way to make your life more exciting.
I think you just change your picture, log off, and ride off into the sunset.
Best of luck to you.
You can't. Show your ass enough and you can get banned, but that's it.
you can't .
just delete your info , and walk away ......
see you in about a week ;-)
you can't . you can walk away and don't look back .. but that's about it ..
many have tried this ,, but end up coming back in a few days anyway .
sorry you want to leave ,, if you are having a problem with someone , you can report it in the " contact us " link at th bottom of the page .. or tell a cl .
or take a small break , let things blow over and come back and make some more friends . ;-)
Just walk away.....there is no need to delete anything. I recommend to stay around to see if new changes take place in the next weeks.
Nope.
Just set your avatar to the standard blue bag (already there); set your username to Anonymous; remove all personal information on the My Settings pages; sign out; and don't return. (You may have to leave your email address, but it will only be available to AB.)
Technically you can't. You can change your user name to Anonymous, your Avatar to a blue Answerbag and fade off into the sunset. More information here:
http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/55965
You can't delete it, but you can ask the Staff to delete it for you.
you can't unless you get some lawyers
No, they will remain here as long as Answerbag exists.
Nope you can change your name to anonomous, and not come back, but the questions and answers you have given are here to stay.
I think it's hilarious that people are giving points to someone who wants to leave :-)
+2 hehe
Your AB membership? No, you can't.
Looks like this is like checking into Hotel California. "AB is programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, But you can never leave!".....
I would not recommend that you do so... you'll probably find you regret the decision.
There are some legal implications to any effort to remove your entries.
You agreed when signing up for AB that any content you submitted was the property of AB, and grant them license to reproduce, publicly display that information, edit, change or delete it at their discretion.
If you try to delete your entries or edit them to be nonsensical, they have the ability and legal authority to restore your submissions to a previous state stored on their back up systems.
Similarly, with the user account, the information is stored on their servers, not locally on your computer. You can not delete that information from their servers.
You may be able to change your account profile, perhaps change the password to a random unknown one, effectively cutting you off from accessing your account.
This would keep you off AB, unless you requested an email sent to your address with a reminder.
Anyways, even if you go through all the work of editing your 160+ answers, you can't edit your questions, you can't edit peoples ratings left for you, or their comments, or your comments.
Much of your content will be left, and anything you are able to destroy can be restored quite easily.
Your stuck here! Rather, your content is.
My advice is to just stop using it for a while if you are unhappy, but don't take any action to damage AB. It is ineffective, and the only lasting effect is that if you want to return in the future
you may limited access.
I did remove over 700 answers and definitions, and something even worse than the frustration of being unable to delete them... they were deleted, they didn't restore them from archives, and they can never be recovered.
Very sad, learn from my mistakes, don't do it.
You can't delete your profile.
You can:
- Change your nickname to 'Anonymous'
- change your avatar back to the blue generic one
- Stop AB sending you any correspondence via email
- Never log in again
Then it'll be like you were never here, almost.
Do we get points for flagging? We used to receive them for moderating but I was told that stopped. So what is true now? Anyone know?

nether, what has been written can never be unwritten
even if you convinced the mods to remove your content, archive sites still back it up forever
