  • For breakfast, we enjoy Dot's Cafe, an immaculate coffee shop which closes at 3 pm. It is at 10870 Plano Road, which is about midway between LBJ Freeway and Forest Lane. It has tons of parking, including the lot in back. Although it is not on the menu, the Denver omelet at Dot's is among the very best that I have had anywhere. The coffee is great and they have endless refills. Avoid going there for lunch between Noon and 1 pm as the regulars are packed in like sardines. For lunch there either be early or go late. The salads are good, especially the Greek salad. We recently had their half pound medium rare hamburger with mushrooms which was outstanding. The conversation among the various guests and the staff is the non-alcoholic functional equivalent of Cheers. Everyone there knows the name of anyone who has been in two or three times and there is an extremely effective problem solving interaction among those present. There is probably not a more immaculate nor friendly public place in Dallas.
