There will never be a time when doctors stop practising.
"Medicine is a science of uncertainty and an art of probability." - William Osler (1849-1919)

They “practise medicine” because that’s exactly how it all began. If you look at the Wild West of the 1800’s doctors were apprentices who were trying anything that might work to cure illness. Even today the doctors practise because they are unsure of drug side effects and how to treat certain diseases. They are still practising as new cures and treatments are being developed.

".....some pain is chronic because the underlying diagnosis has not yet been accurately made, and therefore the most appropriate treatment has not yet been given. Unfortunately, there are many problems not yet solved or not yet diagnosable and not yet fixable by scientific medicine. This is why there is so much quackery and fraud in pain treatment; there are large numbers of patients in pain frustrated by lack of understanding and relief, and vulnerable to the promises of the unscientific." - Steve Zeitzew, M.D.

“Any psychiatrist who doesn't know that his patients lie to him at least some of the time or even all of the time needs his license revoked." - Karen Daskawicz

Definition of complementary medicine adopted by Cochrane Collaboration

"Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is a broad domain of healing resources that encompasses all health systems, modalities, and practices and their accompanying theories and beliefs, other than those intrinsic to the politically dominant health system of a particular society or culture in a given historical period. CAM includes all such practices and ideas self-defined by their users as preventing or treating illness or promoting health and well being. Boundaries within CAM and between the CAM domain and that of the dominant system are not always sharp or fixed."

Good one (altho' a bit 'long-in-the-tooth')!

I am not sure, but what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I think I will become a practicing machinist and every other one of my endeavors. Maybe this is a good legal excuse?

At about the same time as they stop handing out prescription drugs that cause more and sometimes worse problems than you started with and actually get around to treating the underlying cause instead.

as soon as we call for truth. and when are you going to learn to spell? jk i do it too.
medicine is band aid style presently. experts. yeah sure in what they have been taught. the only truth i see is an ideal. do no harm. but they do cause harm under limited knowledge. and i bet if they had the truth and a way to implement it. I think they would. their hands are tied by legal process and liability issues. backed into corner. truth time. I do not trust them. here eat this pill. that might put off the symptom. money money money. I hope for a change. I respect them but the experts are not really practical. bound by legalities backed by big business. health care to me is divine light. heals all. not in this system though. I cant believe we can smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol but cant possess a joint. why? because it prevents cancer?
no money in that. weed has so much value. too easy though. come up with the cure and they will make sure you end up like those who find ways around petroleum. dead. or silenced. my mouth is sure to get me. free speech? or stupidity? probably the latter. somehow I have insurance. lucky me. I cant believe the way we get treated. nothing changes if nothing changes. should we wait for some superman to fix it or are we going to grow spines? It really is up to us. but we are cowards. i guess. who will stand for truth? I will. lets go hold them accountable. we the people. we are all bent over in the sand. come on people make some freakin noise. we are the change. not me us not you us together. stand up.
