THE MIST based on a novel by Stephen King is decent...and have been wanting to see 30 DAYS OF NIGHT...you watch it and let me know if it's worth my time.

Haven't seen it but Cloverfield is supposed to be shit-hot! Other than that, Silent Hill was v.good.

Halloween by Rob Zombie was good. It is not to compete with John Carpenter's original, of course, but it shows when Michael was a child, which makes you actually feel sorry for him, and you can kind of understand why he became an unstoppable slaughtering machine. Personally, my all time favorite horror movie was John Carpenter's Halloween. The suspense was just awesome.

If you want actual GREAT horror movies, since you mentioned that in the title, dare I say that there have been no great ones out within this year or the last. If you want GREAT pictures, dig into the past. I think you'll be surprised by how good these are. Try Hitchcock: Psycho, Rear Window (Disturbia re-made this and seriously failed), The Birds, North by Northwest, Vertigo, Notorious Also check out some great retro horror: Rosemary's Baby You can also watch asian horror flicks (not the American remakes) like Ringu (The Ring) and Three Extremes.

A must see in my opinion would have the be The Strangers. It is the first film I have seen in a long time that actually developed a menacing mood and made me jump.
