I know in Nevada you have to be. Check w/the Labor Board in your area, they would know best.

Excellent to check your state requirements...start there for sure! It's best to have a business license and to also consider using a fictions business name. You want to set your business up to protect YOUR personal assets! Bonding is also an excellent idea as it adds to your creditability with people who do not know you, but might want to give you a key to their home for when they are not there to let you in! I strongly suggest insurance too, because accidents DO happen and you do not want someone coming after you personally if such a problem should arise, better to turn it over to the insurance company. (The insurance company insures you "betting that nothing will ever go wrong," but they will be paid by you just the same. YOU are taking out insurance because you are "betting something will go wrong" and you want THEM to cover it!) I cleaned houses for a company for several years in my 20's and made lots of money, my clients loved me and I loved them...all but a few stinkers who I truly wondered how they could create such insane messes and live that way between visits! oy it was an education in humanity!
