Not much. Every empire and nation will fall, no matter how great they are.

the united states will last as long as there is fuel to keep it's military juggernaut mobile. once the oil is gone, so will life as we know it. but see it this way if the united states ever gets cornered against a wall, it will lash out with every thing that it has, and so starts the apocolypse, they will fire its arsnel of inter continental nuclear weapons at the foe they face. and if they can't have their homeland nobody will. not to worry, why do you think we have iraq? they got all the oil the usa could ever use. and so is the truth

Not forever. Nothing last forever. In the US's case, I get the feeling more and more than when it falls, it won't go quietly. It'll go out with a bang, and try to drag as manner others down with it as possible. We've become so arrogant as a nation that the mere thought of being "less" than any other people on earth makes us angry.

Its already on its way down. There is no money in the treasury. Becase there is no treasury. And what government we do have is a puppet for conglomerates and lobbyists. And then there is vote rigging with computerized voting machines.
-
Not another 4 years.
-
It depends on who else will support the US. The US is not the only one fed up that's for sure.

Let me put it this way: I am glad that I have not had children. I do not want them to undergo what I believe is to come.
-
Economically it will not be long because you spend more money on a defensive budget than the people that live in the country. All that spending and the terrorists unfortunately still get in. From Scotland. God bless america
-
Not long if we keep spending on wars.
-
In it's current form, not long. If a reliable president gets into power, than possibly longer.

I give it 50 years at most. I am an American, and a veteran, so it really pains me to say that. Simple fact is that as long as greed is allowed to play such a big part of the government, we are all screwed. Until lobbyists can no longer buy votes with their sneaky bribery, there is no chance of this country surviving. I really hope it changes, but it is doubtful. Greed ( the biggest problem with any type of government) will keep rearing its ugly head until it is too late.

Probably for a while. If you look back at history, most successful empires lasted a few centuries, at least. The only scenario I can come up with where we would not survive in the near future is if we were hit by an asteroid and it destroyed a large percentage of the country. Or perhaps another catastrophic event such as that which would wipe most of us out. Yes, it is possible that a nuclear war could happen, but we are in a better position now than we were 20 years ago as far as that is concerned. And that wouldn't just be the end of the US, it would be the end of most of the world.
