Because it's based off a good book. (Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein) And Denise Richards helps, too. :)

The big bug at the end looks like a diseased vagina... ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

There are several movies I watch that I just connect with either on a personal entertainment level or an emotional level. Many of them have nothing to do with each other, they just somehow touched me. BTW...I like both the Starship Trooper movies as well!!

Denise Richards and Dina Meyer (especially in the shower and tent scenes).

Several reasons: Paul Verhoeven (however you spell that) is an awesome director (usually). Awesome graphic scenes of violence against giant bugs. Denise Richards in the shower. Doogie Howser as a futuristic Nazi. Social commentary/satire of jingoism and nationalism giving way to outright fascism.

I got the tape used at Hollywood and showed it to every one, i went to the theater 3 times, and the more I watched it the more flawed it became. ... But.. ... as a science fiction movie it's still NOT BAD, but it AIN'T half of what it could have and should have been. Still good for bong hits the whole way. what makes is so awesome is pacing, and when, in basic, the sarg gets to yell "Medic", the scale of the ships, "MI, it made me the man I am today!" WITH A STRAIGHT face, the "do you want to know more" ... Now how do you feel about "Forbidden Planet" 'cause that is about 3 times the movie. and it is 52 years old. Robbie is my #2 robot of all time after the TV lost in space robot, "Danger DANGER Will Robinson"
