Why do people even bother asking questions about religion on here? Personally I will NOT answer them anymore due to being down rated for it... Anyone else feel the same?

There are two types of questions I'm hesitant to answer after several spats and discussions: Religious and Philosophical. People are far too up their own ass about what they believe (including myself), and I don't feel like dealing with someone else's ego trip when I've got my own to deal with.

I think the people that ask the questions generally want only those people who agree with them to answer..so when someone answers with a different opinion, troubles arise. It is difficult to have a serious, respectful discussion about religion because the differing sides feel so strongly about their particular positions and they seem as if they need to convince the other person of how wrong they are to believe what they believe. If each side could just listen politely and they could exchange viewpoints in a civil manner, I don't see why such questions wouldn't be worthwhile for both sides! :)

I don't know. I do know they DR those kinds of questions and answers, but some people DR all kinds of stuff. I have been truly perplexed about some of my answers that have been DRed. They have not been controversial, or incorrect and have pretty much just been random answers. Somthing as stupid as "what is your favorite ice cream?" and I say "chocolate" and get DRed. Just do your best to enjoy yourself, and realize ANY answers (or question) has the possibility of getting DRed or uprated.

I don't even care about rating in the religious section of AB. I prefer to post my opinion and appreciate whatever attention my response gets, so... whatever.
