  • If I tell you it's insanely painful, is it going to stop you? If not - then why bother asking? To be honest - I don't know if that's a painful spot, as I don't have a tattoo there. I just want to say think long and hard about getting a tattoo anywhere that's visible while you're clothed. ESPECIALLY your hands and face/neck. You will never be able to conceal it, and someday you might find you want a "professional" type job, where a tattoo on your hand will not be acceptable. This one little tattoo could affect a lot of things later in life, simply because of where you put it. So make sure it's what you want to do, and think about how it may come into play down the road, before you run out and do it.
  • I would suggest waiting a year to get it. Desires morph so frequently it is essential to make sure that symbol is truly "you". Also, enduring the pain is part of the experience; it helps to mark the occasion in the memory. Once the tattoo is over the participant is a member of a new group of people~
  • Some tattoo artists won't do a hand tattoo on someone that doesn't already have visible tattoos, especially if you've just turned 18. Any good artist should at least discourage you from that area for your first tattoo, since not only is it almost impossible to hide, but hand web tattoos often need regular touch-ups and recolorings due to the high movement. Tattoos in that area often blur and fade, since your hands are always moving and always exposed. As for the pain factor, I've been told it's more painful than some areas, but not terrible.
  • Yeah, it's gonna hurt like hell when you get it and will hurt even more later if you decide to get it taken off. For your first one, you should give it a few months to actually think about it or at least do it in a place where most people don't see.
