Before you drill, could you post a picture of what they look like? Just interested... :)

I have been collecting coins for 14 years and I can't stand it when people make jewelry out of coins!!! Especially when they use rare coins!! The holes make the coins worthless and no one wants them. If you absolutely MUST make jewelry out of them go somewhere that uses metals and makes jewelry and have them make some kind of necklace with a loop to run the chain through but PLEASE don't use a drill!!! I have a coin from Philippines that someone drilled a hole in and they drill it right through the date and it is just aggravating to collectors that actually want the coins.

As you own them I would think it okay to put a hole in them, I have seen some coins on cords in coin shows and bought mine. I have a little tool that has a screw on it that can drill thru metal by turning but perhaps not as thick as a coin, never tried that. I'd use an electric drill with the coin clamped to a table. You may have to get a for metal drill bit.

A Coin Shop can sell U "Bands" that fit the circumference of the coin & have a small "Loop" to "Hang" them on something. I don't know how "Universally Sized" these are, but try it. John

I would not recommend making holes in the coins. You can purchase something called a coin mount setting from any decent jewelry supply store and use them to make your necklace. Depending on the size of your coins, you can even use pendant mountings to create a really unique piece. Once you make holes in the coins, they lose any value they may have now, or could gain in the future. You should always try to preserve things in their original state where possible.
