1. Be sure to check the clothing CLOSELY for any rips, stains, etc. From there, you can judge whether it's repairable or not. Pay careful attention to areas around the seams. 2. Always try on vintage clothing because sizing has changed so much through the years. 3. Some vintage stores put the era of the clothing on the price tag, but this may not always be accurate. If possible, familiarize yourself with some vintage brands and their value online. Ebay is a great source to check vintage sale value. 4. Familiarize yourself with the store. Some have everything dry-cleaned, but most do not. Some stores have sale days every week. Ask employees about upcoming sales or events.

Our best bet for vintage (as opposed to "used") it the WEAVE (Women's Empowered Against ViolencE)Thrift Shop. They take only quality items, and fully inspect each item they sell. If you want day to day clothing, most of the charity thrift stores have a "fine clothes" or "new clothes" section, where the higher quality clothes are sorted. Be sure you choose a Charity Thrift Store, because there are many so-called thrift shops these days that are for-profit stores, and do not benefit charities. I buy all my clothes at Charity Thrift Stores, and most of my furniture also.
