I think Hillary would be a definite target, especially since our current "hotspots" are mostly in the mid east against religious extremists. Not only will this mean an increased risk of someone trying to assassinate her, but would also make our "enemy" much less likely to come to terms with the US. As far as Obama, I just can't be sure. I have no idea how the world would react to him as the US president.

Yes and yes. ALL Presidents stand a significant risk of an assasination attempt, just by virtue of their position. But B. Obama and H. Clinton would also elicit special hatred from over-zealous groups including racists and sexists. Also, they would be highly significant targets for groups from outside the U.S.. Barack Obama I think has an increased risk because he is black and because he would be at risk by groups who hate him because they think he is Muslim and from Muslims who disagree with the fact that he is not a practicing Muslim. That said, it is not a reason for them to avoid office, nor a reason for us to keep either of them out of office. A girl in my shop said that if we like Obama so much, we shouldn't vote for him in order to protect his life. That is foolish. That is hiding from the play yard bully. If everyone did that, there would never be advancement for ANYONE other than rich white Christian men. Not that I am for Hilary AT ALL, but it is interesting that we are FINALLY at a place in our history where we may have a black or female president. This is not time to worry about assassinations! Let the secret service worry about that!
