do i buy a house that is a fix er upper and i don't know what i am getting my self into, or do i wait and buy a brand new house that i know i will be MARRIED to for the rest of my life? What would you do?
-
you never finished you question but i would suspect that you need to hire an inspector to look at it. depending on the laws of your state, you should look for a professional engineer, not just someone licensed to inspect.

I think the cracks in the walls can be minor - the problem is what caused them? Have the foundation inspected. Also, are the cracks not fixed because the house is in general disrepair because of lack of money?

I would love to help, but there are so many variables in something like this. If you are handy or know some handy friends or relatives, you could go the fixer upper. A new house should be fixer upper free, but will cost you $$. Are you planning on living there a long time 10 or more years? Or are you planning on moving in the not too distant future? The house you describe sounds HUGE...how many in your family? You could be buying too much house or to little if you have a large family... See, lots of ?'s

Get a quility inspection. Those defects could be minor or major. Best of luck.

get a realtor, an house inspetor/examiner and get as much legal protection(in Canada it is illegal for the seller not to divulge known problem areas) as you can..I don't know the laws where you are..but it is well worth protecting yourself as much as possible.
