A relative of ours just come from US on holidays says that though advanced in many fields, Americans are not yet ready to accept a non-white or a Women as their President. Is it true?

If your relative feels that way, let's hope they stay on holiday through the elections. I may be idealistic but I sincerely hope the American public is ready to elect the best person for the position. That would be a nice CHANGE.

I think that most Americans are, however, I'm sure there are still some that are not. Just like pretty much everywhere in the world, the U.S. still has some sexist and racist people, but not everyone is.

Your friend who was on vacation only had access to the media for their information.....and i don't blame your friend, but the media is a poor source of info.. . When you live in the US for a couple years and get the "feeling" of the country, you will see that race and gender have nothing to do with it. . Weather or not barrack obama or hillary clinton get elected is irrelevent....if they don't, then it just means that most americans didn't like their political views......it has nothing to do with race. . Like in every country in the world, there will always be an extreme minority of racists and sexists, but they won't really affect the election.
