  • They will probably come today. If not, see if a fax will do, have more copies sent "registered mail", or make a trip to the lawyers office to sign them.
  • I was also involved in something similar with an insurance company representing the other driver. If you were lucky enough to settle without having to go to a courthouse, then your lawyer should have faxed you the release on the day of decision. You should not have signed ANY checks until you had signed that release because without that release, no insurance company pays anyone. I don't know which side you are on in this situation, but in any case the process is such that money is not supposed to change hands until all the papers are signed and if the papers are not signed then the person with the money is holding the cards. Request an e-mailed scan of the form for authentication if not for legal signature. If its slow in coming, I recommend making a signing appointment for all involved members. If my memory serves me, both parties and both lawyers are required to sign the document. I was lucky/unlucky enough to have to drive to a courthouse where the judge ordered an attempt to settle before opening his docket and we got the paper signed straight away. My lawyer received a check from the insurance company which he showed me and then he forwarded me my share in subsequent weeks after appropriate documentation.
