  • UH...no. For shows like American Idol, yes. But just for someone who is making their demo tapes and singing in clubs to get gigs? No. Why would there be? Wouldn't it be sad if we lost out on some beautiful voice or extreme talent just based on AGE? I happen to prefer "mature" singers. There is something out there for everyone. Creating an age limit feeds in to baseless ageism. There are plenty of job fields that need age limits for safety sake, singing is hardly one of them.
  • No way....their talent lasts longer than their youth. I love to hear a beautiful voice. A lady I know in her late 70's still has the voice of an angel.

  • I think the reason for the cutoff age is due to the target audience. I don't think preteens would like to listen to someone over 25, even if their songs would otherwise appeal to preteens. There are some great singers in their 50's, 60's, and even 70's, although their repertoire is somewhat dated.
