Things like not going into bad areas of town, parking in well lit areas clost to the store entrance at night, seeing who is around before you unlock and get out of your car, keeping an eye on people in places known to have frequent problems, like night clubs or bars, don't go out with the intent to get drunk without a trusted friend to stay sober and keep you safe.
