From various books and websites. For hiragana and katakana, you can get a useful workbook from amazon, borders, or barnes and noble, that really helped me. After you initially learn it, you just have to keep at it. For kanji, I'd recommend flashcards (making your own could help) or buying a guide to writing beginners japanese. If you get a guide, it will show how the kanji is like a picture of the object (in some very abstract ways that you might not see if you're not shown.)
