Is it proper for a girl to take Saint Malachy as her patron saint for confirmation?

Ah....St. Malachy, the Archbishop of Armagh and the Prophecy of the Popes! Generally, girls take female saint names and boys take male saint names. I know that in my parish that is the way it is done. Ask your parish priest or your conformation sponsor of the rules for your particular diocese's rules.
