  • The NYPD website states "When including base salary, average overtime and night shift differential, holiday pay, and uniform allowance, a Police Officer earns over $35,000, on average, in the first year; $45,000, on average, in the second year; $77,000, on average, after 6 years." Also note: "1 in 6 uniformed members of the NYPD are Detectives. A Detective’s (3rd Grade) average earning is $100,000"
  • "up to" is synonymous w/ "no more than". No more than $4,500/mo for an EXPERIENCED officer doesn't sound all that high of a salary CAP for the position to me.
  • I live in a small, quiet town and our police officers make around $10 per hour... So that's what? $2000 a month for 50 hr weeks?
  • They are WAY overpaid for the job they have... which is...besides harrassing innocent people...ummm... I'll have to get back to ya on that one..
