  • As far as I know, the USA does not mandate a flotation device be carried. I checked around in some of my FAA pilot handbooks to see if there was anything specific about personal aircrafts requiring life jackets and I couldn't find anything. I do not know what type of aircraft you are intending to fly for this trip so I can't be extremely specific. Many aircraft are already equipped with life jackets or floating seat cushions. Check the plane you are flying and see what it contains. You may want to carry some sort of flotation device in case some sort of emergency were to arise. All commercial planes have them, whether they be cushions or inflatable vests. As for private aircraft, I don't know of specific rules about USA to Caribbean flights.
