I did that too. I explained that I was with my ex for 2 years and it is a habit. When i call her that I am not trying to pretend that she is my ex. If you are honest they are forgiving. Well at least in the beginning. If she is good to you she will understand. But flowers dont hurt either. Make sure she knows that she is special to you.

I would not buy her a gift.. because mistakes happen and you should not have to pay for them when they are innocent and unintentional mistakes. It has happened to me and it is not the most pleasant thing in the world to be called by another woman's name but it was not deliberate and there was no drama any time it was done. I have done it and had no clue why because the person was not even on my mind. Just tell the truth and let it go. Buying gifts makes it bigger than it really is. A slip of the tongue.

Whoah....yeah that would cause a bit of upset. However, if she was a recent ex girlfriend its normal that the old name might continue to linger. But, if she knows about Freud...your slip up may have registered in her mind as just that.
