You can become psychologically dependent on it, and really crave it after it's a routine. But after about a week or two of not smoking you don't really think about it as much except once in awhile.

Not really. I started smoking it way back in 85. I smoked continuously until 1996 when I went into the army. I managed to quit and function just fine through all my training without anything other than the " damn I need a bowl" feeling once in a while. Since I left the army I have returned to occasional smoking, but haven't felt the need to get stupid with it like I was back in my quarter pound a week by myself days...

I smoked for years. There are no withdrawals in the traditional sense. Your short term memory will improve greatly too. The only thing that makes it different from say 'trying to stop chewing gum' is things you did when you were high don't seem to be as much fun. This passes too. After a while you won't believe you ever smoked. My two cents.

There are no withdrawls like the kind you would typically associate with the word withdrawl. Drugs like cocaine, alcohol, or heroine are water soluable as well as quickly metabolized by your body. Over time your body develops a resistance to these drugs and eventually a inability to function without them. Once the drug leaves your system you desire a fix and will grow through symptoms of withdrawl. Marijuana however is fat soluable and stays in your system a lot longer. As such if you were to smoke say an 1/8 a day for 8 years, you'd have a considerable amount of THC built up in your system. If you were to suddenly go cold turkey, you would still have plenty of marijauna in your system and these chemicals would slowly break down over time. This allows your body to ease off the drug naturally regardless if you quit instantly or slowly cut back. No withdrawl symptoms with this wonderful drug, it makes you happy when you take it and will allow you to stop taking it with out causing havoc on your body.
