My understanding and I could be wrong on this is that there have been numerous reports made over the years that there are still American soldiers being held prisoner by the North Vietnamesee Army. Our government has repeatedly dismissed these reports as nonsense but still hasn't accounted for the fact there are still thousands of soldiers officially listed as MIA in Vietnam.

They either dead or missing, not captured. What's the point in keeping prisoners if the war is over and you're not telling anyone you have them?

Officially, we didn't leave anyone. Even before some were returned. Unofficially the story is very different. I heard of one prisoner who formed the rice paddy he was forced to work in into the shape of an American flag. It showed up on a satellite pass, but we still won't go get him! And the reason for keeping them is simple. Cheap slave labor.

As a relative to a KIA (Body not recovered), MIA from Vietnam, I like to believe that those who didn't come home aren't rotting in a prison camp over there with no hope of rescue. If were there after the "last" of the prisoners were released, they probably died long ago. The Vietnamese weren't known for treating prisoners well, there is only so much of that a body can take. There are still efforts ongoing to find those who didn't come home. The Joint Task Force Full Accounting travels there regularly to search for remains of the missing. As they do with the remains from previous wars as well. I met some of these guys in Thailand when I was there a few years ago. They take their work very seriously. I am not so sure about the Washington D.C. people but those JTF guys are serious about doing their part. Perhaps one day they can offer closure to these men's lives, they deserve it.

Basically Nixon promised millions of $$$ to Vietnam at the end of the war to rebuild the country after the war ,and one of the conditions was the full release of all POW's w(THE FULL LIST)...But Nixon didnt fulfill his side of the deal...and the vietnamese only gave back U.S. personel that were no good to them...the rest of them mostly specialist trained were kept..some resarch says they went into China,Russia and other communist countries... Many were moved into deepest Laos which were officially nothing to do with the war,and although there have been a couple of gov backed rescue missions they never found anybody either through sabotage or poor intel ,and even reports of "termination missions"being ordered but to the public it looked like the gov were trying ...bullshit these boys if still alive will never see U.S. soil apart from in a box there to much of an embarresment to the white house..Can you imagine a bus load of live vietnam POW's turning up in the media Woody
