  • No, I don't expect anything. If I invited them then I did so because I wanted their company, not because I want to do a favor seesaw:)
  • No. I invite someone because I want their company, not because I want an invite back :)
  • No, I invite my friends over when I want to spend time with them; I figure if the feeling is reciprocal I'll eventually see them again, whether I invite them out again or they invite me somewhere :) Friendship is give and take, but not tit for tat.
  • My mother has some warped idea that people should reciprocate. Personally, I have not bought into this idea. I would have someone over my place 100 times even if they never had me over once. If they were a good guest and we were chummy, I would not be "expecting" anything in return.
  • I often wonder about this one... My husband and I made friends with a wonderful couple, they invited us to their house the first time, that was 1 1/2 yrs ago, I invite them to my house every month or so and we grill out and have a few drinks and a great time. Now, my friend always says "Next time I will bring the food and we can eat at your house because my house is too small". I don't really care but she never does it, but says it EVERYTIME.. I am always the one to invite them over.. sometimes I think, well, maybe they feel pressured to come and they don't really want to.. What do you think?
  • never give a gift, expecting one in return ... that's a selfish motive ... you should offer a place at your dinner table out of love and desire to be with someone, not to get free grub out of it later on
