  • Check with a lawyer because different states have different laws. I got a divorce once, my ex lived in Indiana and I was in Michigan. I never met my lawyer, we did everything over the phone. We did conference calls between lawyers and us and we fed ex'd the papers around to have them signed. I never stepped foot in a court. It cost me about $500 and took less than a year. We were very agreeable about a lot of things though, and we didn't own a house or anything like that that had to be split. We agreed on child custody and support. We just wanted it done quickly.
  • If you both agree to the terms and the divorce...no you do not have to see one another. Just make up your mind who is filing and they will do the paper work and the other will get a copy to sign.
